CURRENT ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL ELECTIVES - The following are our current Adult Sunday School classes.  Each class meets during the 9:45-10:45 AM time slot here at the church.

Preaching minister Mike Curry teaches the Fellowship Class in - you guessed it - the Fellowship Hall.  Mike's leading a study now through the end of summer on The Life and Ministry of Jesus, taken from the Gospel accounts.  All adults are welcome to join in this important study.

Dave Silvers is currently leading adults in an in-depth verse-by-verse study of the Pastoral Epistles.  The class in the Loyal Berean classroom, located behind the worship auditorium.

Chris Strickland is teaching a class for our Young Adults (high school grads up through mid-thirties) meeting upstairs in the Sunday School wing.  They're beginning a study of the book "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel.  Come be a part of this discussion-oriented gathering!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY - Our Wednesday Evening Adult Bible Study has been suspended for the summer months, but we will resume on Wednesday, September 15th, at 7 p.m. "13 Lessons in Christian Doctrine" by the late Denver Sizemore will be the basis for our 13-week study.

CHCC 75th ANNIVERSARY AND HOMECOMING - We're looking forward to celebrating our 75th Anniversary and Homecoming. Our guest speaker will be Steve Jones, preacher here from June 1990 to December 1996.  Steve's now is preaching at Vero Christian Church in Vero Beach, Florida.

We'll begin the celebration at CHCC with a preaching service followed by a Pie Social on Friday, September 10th, at 7 p.m. Sign up to bring a pie; ice cream will be provided.

Then, we'll get together for a cookout and picnic at Northside Park on Saturday, September 11th, at 2:30 p.m. Bring chips and beverages. The church will supply the hamburgers and hot dogs.

We'll conclude the weekend celebration with a luncheon following our worship service on Homecoming Sunday, September 12th. Please sign up to provide luncheon ingredients which will be prepared by the Homecoming Committee.

ANGEL FOOD PACKAGES - The deadline to place Angel Food orders is Sunday, September 12th. Pick up your order on Saturday, September 18th, between 8 and 9 a.m.

CROSSROADS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - OUR "ADOPTED" SCHOOL - We're collecting receipts from Farm Fresh grocery stores and "Box Tops for Education." The school can redeem them for school supplies, computers, sports equipment, etc. Envelopes may be found on the Ladies Circle Bulletin Board for your Farm Fresh receipts and Box Tops. As always, your prayers for the students and school staff are requested. Thanks for supporting our neighborhood students!

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER NEEDED - A teacher is needed for the Toddler Class. This two-hour position (Sunday School hour and Worship Hour) will rotate with Rhonda Rossi. See Carol DiFernando for details.

LADIES CIRCLE FALL KICK-OFF - All ladies, college age and older, are invited to our first meeting of the season on Monday, September 13th. Please join us in the Fellowship Hall from 7 to 8 p.m.

PECANS FOR SALE - From September 5th - 26th, the Ladies Circle will sell one-pound bags of shelled fancy whole pecans for $6.50 each. Freshly picked from this year's crop, expect delivery before Thanksgiving. Use the sign-up sheet in the foyer to place your advance order.

FRESH FLOWERS FOR THE STAGE - Families, individuals, Sunday School Classes, or Community Life Groups are invited to sign up for a Sunday and place a flower arrangement on the stage in honor of or in memory of someone, or merely to brighten up the church. Use the “Flower Calendar” on the Information Table to reserve a Sunday. Bring your flowers and place them in the auditorium by the Sunday School hour. After church take them home, or see a deacon to have them delivered to a shut-in.

CHCC INTERCESSORY PRAYER & PRAISE LIST - Joe DiFernando compiles and distributes the weekly church prayer & praise list. Please contact him with your prayer requests and praise reports for the weekly list prior to Saturday at 4 p.m.  You can call Joe (leave a message if there is no answer), or e-mail your requests to prayerlist@chccfamily.org. Also, please provide your e-mail address to Joe if you’d like to regularly receive your weekly prayer list via e-mail.  NOTE: In order to keep the list current and manageable, submitted items will be removed from the list after a maximum of three weeks unless Joe is notified to leave the items on the list. Thanks for your help, and thanks for praying!

ANNOUNCEMENT DEADLINES - If you have an announcement for the weekly bulletin, please submit it to the church secretary no later than the Wednesday morning prior to the Sunday you want the announcement run. You may phone the office at 587-0401, or drop off a note in the secretary’s mailbox in the Fellowship Hall (#33). Also, if you want something announced during a worship service, please advise Mike Curry before the service. Thanks!

LAMP POST - Articles and announcements for our printed and mailed monthly newsletter should be turned into the church office no later than the 15th of the previous month in order to be considered for publication. Thank you.

THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST - Unlike the other upcoming events you'll see listed on this page, we don't know exactly when, but Jesus is coming back again! And it is our intention to be ready for Him when He comes!

The Bible clearly states that at some future time, the Lord Jesus will return to planet Earth to gather up His followers and take them home. The apostle Paul advised the church in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 that "According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."

Now, the Scriptures also state clearly that the timing is up to God, and not known by man: "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other... No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." (Matthew 24:30-31, 36)
